　　1954年9月4日，十世班禅额尔德尼到北京出席第一届全国人大和政协会议，并被选为第一届全国人大常务委员和政协副主席。此为十世班禅额尔德尼敬献给中央人民政府的唐卡《光明照耀着西藏》。唐卡题写有藏、汉两种文字，以绘画的方式充分表达了西藏人民在以毛主席为首的中央人民政府的领导下过着的幸福美满的生活。（当增扎西）
